This page gives a little background, and credits where it's due, on our penguin images. Eventually we expect that there will be a variety of penguins singing all over the place; I especially need a vocalist and piano player at the moment.
Why penguins? Well, Tux the Penguin (below, left) has been the semi-official Linux mascot for several years now. Linux, of course, is many things, but one of them is a community of users and developers, working together to build something fantastic. The goal of PenguinSong is similar, though for many reasons we're not trying to make ``free music'' that's free in the same way as ``free software.''

Rhysling and his songs are mentioned in one of my own songs, The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of. The instrument should really be an accordion, but for some reason I've always pictured it as a concertina. |
